Das sehr bekannte jüdische Lied "Donna Donna" hat einen sehr tragischen Hintergrund. Der Schriftsteller Itschak Katsenelson (1886-1944) schrieb es 1942 im Warschauer Ghetto, als seine Familie und tausende andere Juden in das Vernichtungslager Ausschwitz deportiert wurden. Donna Donna ist das Lied vom Kälbchen, dass sich nicht wehrt zur Schlachtbank geführt zu werden.
